The College of Pharmacy at Dalhousie University in Halifax has launched two new websites to help make finding information a little easier. As a drug, pharmacy, health and professional information resource, DIR covers more than 60 topics, from compounding to information for pregnant patients. The ITP site is a tutorial to help pharmacists use the Internet to locate and evaluate drug information. Both sites have been upgraded recently to make them more efficient and user-friendly.

The Drug Product Data Base (DPD) is managed by Health Canada's Therapeutic Products Directorate. It contains product specific information on drugs approved for use in Canada. The DPD can be searched by company name, drug identification number (DIN), active ingredient or the ATC (Anantomical Therapeutic Chemical) classification system. The DPD is used mainly to answer questions about product availability, formulation and presentation (name and strengths of active ingredients, dosage forms, rout of administrarion, etc.) of discontinued (inactivated) as well as marketed (active) products.
